Interview with Davy
Hi Davy, so tell us something about you.
Hi, I?m Davy Sysmans from Olen in the allmighty Belgium. Currently studying Interactive Multimedia Design in college at Mechelen. I?m currently 19 years old (turning 20 in november). I?m actually part Polish, my mother is originally from Poland but has been living in belgium for over 25 years now. 25 years back she was actually planning to buy a car in France and return to her homecounrty, but she got to know my father who apparently was a real casanova ^_¨. And so she stayed.
When did you get your first PC and when did you start to play games?
I?ve started gaming 3 years ago when I got my first computer and a friend of mine got me into playing cod1.
Write us your history in CoD series.
After 3 months of playing I got myself in the Belgian national TDM team and started to make a name for myself. After playing with eoGn and BooZZe I joined up with tek9. I?ve been playing with them since november 2004. When CoD2 came out I uninstalled CoD1 after 2 weeks. I just enjoy cod2 way more then its previous version. Though a couple of months ago I did install cod1 again to play the opencup with some friends.
Tell us something about your team players.
Ozwald: Smart, Unlucky
Knaller: Aimbot, great ingame knowledge
Sko: ingame leader, doesnt give a shit about the game, MEGAGOOD AIMER
L-King: bright, tall, hardly whines
Haya: a turkey, very loud
Could you define your "normal" day?
All my days seem different actually, but the schedule of the most common days go like this: Get up at dno when, washup and go to school (depends on the day), usually spend 3-4 hours at school before I go home. Most of the time I?m back at around 17-18.30. I eat on the train so at home I just set up my laptop to do schoolstuff and next to it my computer in case we have to play. Most of the days we play and after that I go out a lot or go darting. Or occasionally watch some tv but most of the time tv is fucking boring so I get back on my pc rather quickly.
Could you define your "ideal" day?
An ideal day.. hmm.. not an easy question. But that would probably be waking up next to a hot girl offcourse! =)) If she makes me breakfast then even better! Getting up without the stress of school, parents, health, ... Would be fucking amazing ;). If they day starts like that, not much can go wrong for me. (Or do I just want to believe that?)
What are you doing in your free time?
In my free time I swim in our pool when it?s hot, go out with friends, play tabletennis, football, ... Just the usual stuff :D
Tell us your best awards.
Hmmm, good question. Gamingwise I really enjoyed getting the 3 rd place at Eurocup lan finals and our win at Milklan. But the stuff I?m most proudest of was getting in the ?national? squad of our football team couple of years ago. Also graduating from highschool :D (I was very uncertain about my results the last year). Also coming second in our clubchampionship with tennis after only playing for a couple of months. I seem to be good at sports.. But had to quit sports because of a bad health and back.
Do you have a girlfriend? Could i see her photo? :P
I?m not in a relationship atm, I?m actually not someone who wants to have a long term thing with anyone. I actually prefer flirting and spending time with someone for a night when I go out etc. The challenge is fun! That doesnt mean that I?m succesful every weekend :D
What are your next hobbies? Do you have anything like collecting stamps?:P
No I dont really have hobbies like filately. Gaming is offcourse one of my biggest hobbies and then I also swim I lot and since recently I go jogging aswell. Also I love to eat :D. My grandma comes to Belgium from Poland sometimes and brings the nicest food ever with her. I?m so in love with Polish food.
What is your favourite food?
I make the best spaghetti and fries >_>
Are you interested in cars, bikes or speed?
No, I?ve never been intersted in cars or speed.. I love my bike.
Which sports do you like? Any extreme sport?
Yes mate some EXTREME GAMING EHEHeE. But ehm I used to skate a lot and whenever I see skating on TV I do keep on watching it since I still like to see people fall on their face. But I mostly follow tennis and football(not belgium football since it?s so horrible). Champions league is probably the only league I really follow though ;p.
Do you like films? Which genre?
I love most of the Quentin Tarantino movies like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, .. Also I love to see trilogies (the matrix, spiderman, ..) though I havent seen The lord of the rings yet. Should do that sometime. But what I?m really hooked on are series. I follow Scrubs, The office (US), Lost, Prisonbreak, The sopranos, Heroes, Family Guys, South Park. I just love watching those.
Do you have any animal as dog, cat etc?
We got some cat which actually just came to our house at some point and my mom kept giving the thing food. But it?s scared of me because I once (by accident) kicked a ball right on his face.
What do you think about CPC2?
CPC2 was a very fun tournament. Though it was kind of annoying that had to play 1 map on Friday and Thursday and like 8 maps on Sunday. Was very tiring. But the players were taken care of by the organisation and I dont have a lot to complain about. It was atleast way better then CPC1 where there was hardly any space to move your mouce (and knowing I got a pretty low sensitivity, it didnt really feel good for me =] In the end I was very happy with the CPC2 organisation.
Are you satisfied with your play and your team play at CPC2?
I?m pretty happy with the way we played knowing that we had hardly any preparation. Though I feel like we should?ve won against serious. F.e. in the first map (vallente) we had a 12-11 advantage. In that last round knaller was facing a 1 vs 5 situation, and he just picks off 4 of the Serious players and then gets owned by a random, as we call it, nutechheadshot. Then we lose the overtime because of demotivation. Carentan didnt go well either for us but at a certain point it was 12-9 for Serious while we were on allies. But we played amazing at that time and we just came back to 12-12 and then won the overtime. This is where we realised how bad it was to lose that one last round on Vallente. If that would?ve been our round than we would?ve been in the final allready. So after Carentan we had to play Dawnville which is a map where you need to be prepared on the play versus Serious. Which we obviously werent and we got owned (13-9). It felt really bad. After that we had to play Esuba for the 3 rd place. We both agreed to play 1 map and randomly chose Dawnville. We were still dissapointed because of the loss against Serious and went into the game versus Esuba with not much concentration. Though we surprisingly won 7-5 on allies and then just took axis and won 13-9. The 3 rd place was bitter but quite oke without good preparation. I still feel bad because of losing that 1 round to serious. I?m pretty sure we would?ve taken Logitech in the finals.
Describe for us your computer.
CPU 2-Intel? Pentium? D CPU 3.00GHz, 2999MHz,
RAM 1024KB
GFX Nvidia GeForce 6800GT
Display 1152x864/32bit/75Hz
HDD 232GB
OS Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2
What abour your sensitivity and resolution?
I play with sensitivity 3 at home, though I used 2 at CPC2 for some reason. Mouseaccel is turned off. I think I use 1024*768 resolution though I?m not sure ;P. Default is the key!
Which czech clans do yo know and what you can tell us about them?
Esuba surprised me a lot at CPC2. I followed some of their games and I was impressed by their play. It seems they mainly focus on aim. Which is very helpfull with players like blx and lucker who have a very strong aim and know what they are doing. After watching them play versus speedlink I thought (together with others) that Esuba would win the entire lan. But they bumped into us :P. Anyway I have to say congratulations to the esuba guys for playing so good at the event. Further I can?t really judge teams like neophyte who havent attended any big lan yet (while esuba did 3 allready). I did see Luboshmir playing on milklan and he was really impressive. Online neophyte seem te edge out esuba but I think it would be the other way around because of the lan experience esuba have. Further I know CZKlan and necro but don?t know how good they are or who even plays in there.
What you can tell us about European scene?
I like the cod2 scene. The lanscene especially which mostly consists of great guys. At every lan we go out together and it?s really nice to have that. I dont think there are a lot of communities who have that. Also it?s nice to see the big variety of nationalities who play at the top. Serious have kind off been dominating on lan lately but if you look at the lans before that. There were different winners everytime: Speedlink, Dignitas, Check-Six, Tek9, Logitech. Was really nice to see that happening and to not have a boring competition with just 1 team winning everything (like toxic in q4 last year). I?m sure Serious won?t be able to keep winning the next lans if for example we or dignitas will be fully prepared.
How long are you going to play pc games? Did you think about normal life and throw pc from the window?
I dont know how much longer I will play games. I guess as long as I enjoy it and can make some money with it. I?ve thought about quitting a lot but there?s always something that keeps me going. I dont think about thrashing my pc ;p, although sometimes you can notice my mouse flying through the room. Plus I got a nice balance between my real life and gaming. I still go out almost every weekend and have the greatest friends ;).
