Hi Stevy, first thing - introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello guys, my name is Stevy Verheyen i'm 19 years old and currently playing for fnaticMSi. In my freetime i play some poker and chill out alot, as im going to college next year.
When did you start playing computer games?
I started playing a couple of years ago. I started with call of duty 1, unfortunately i started playing it too late, by the time i knew what stuff like pcw's, clanbase were, cod2 was already out.
Which was first, that you were good in at?
I guess i was good in cod1 but i never had the chance to prove myself since the scene was pretty much dead when i played it.
You've played also CoD2 - what's your opinion about this game and the main difference from CoD4?
The main difference for me atleast is that cod2 is rather slow cause of 1 smoke. there are no flashes either..so yeah it's kind of slow.
Could you describe shortly your full gaming career including your team, where you were?
Well.. like i said i started back in cod1 and played in some unknown teams, after that i went on to cod2 cause my pc was finally able to hold 125 fps, not too long after that i got noticed by woobai and sloom that decided to give me a chance in IRL (In-rectum love), we attended some lans, ended top5 and then cod4 came. I played for lowlandlions, after the failure @ cc4 i decided to play in another team, that team was team-coolermaster. After a couple of months i got an offer from tek-9. After tek-9 folded cause of people not being able to attend lans i got picked up by ButtonBashers. And when button bashers folded i got picked up by fnatic, so here i am today.
The biggest succes and why?
fnatic has to be the biggest succes in my "career", we've won pretty much everything we've attended.
The best match ever and why?
fnaticMSi vs. Reason-gaming oof3 semi final. We were down 11-1 on district, but we manage to take it to overtime and win it there, by far the sickest comeback we ever had.
The best players you've ever played with?
Definitely the fnatic line-up (KyoChi, LINQAN, odyx, zenith/rivve & me).
Now you are in two teams - Fnatic and Antwerp Aces, could you describe this situation?
fnaticMSi is still my main focus, i have no intentions or plans to leave them, i just play with Antwerp Aces for the benelux EPS season since we couldn't enter it with fnatic.
Does Knaller and also Davy get on the at least same gaming style as they had in past (CoD4)? - i mean it like if they fit in the game?
Yeah, they fit in well. They are good players but they just don't enjoy the game. When davy & knaller are motivated, they play really well. They showed it on the summerlans back when tek9 was still alive.
You've recently won the CIC7, what're the feelings?
It was great, I mean alot of people thought we lost our "touch" after we were forced to replace rivve with zenith. We looked shaky in the beginning of the brackets but we showed how good this team is in the final against reason-gaming.
Anyway, you've changed your line-up before this event. It was good move, was'nt it?
Yeah, the move worked out in our favour, but it's not like we planned to change the line-up. We were actually forced to change it, but zenith really surprised me in alot of positive ways.
What was your yourney to the Grandfinals?
we beat corgz, hostile faction (infused-gaming) & infinity skills. It doesn't look like the toughest bracket but it's not really our fault when topteams struggle to get out of the groups.
You played in the Grandfinals againts Reason Gaming, what was the breaking point of the whole game?
Hmm it's hard to say, i think when it was 10-9 on strike and zenith won that 1v2, reason-gaming broke. They didn't recover from it and we felt like we won it. Till then the game was really close, it was constantly going back and forward.
Do you have some funny or not so funny story from Holland? What do you think about tournament at all?
No funny stories from me atleast, sorry :(. The tournament itself was pretty amazing, i mean, the admins were extremely helpful, the schedule was good and the pc's were fantastic. All you need for a good lan-event.
The game Call of Duty 4 has bigger and bigger community (more players, better teams, more cups with big prizemoney), what is the reason/s that its happening? Add or Show Comments: | Comments: 1
I guess when people finally realised MW2 is one of the worst games they ever made, they started to show interest in cod4 again and with vita nova doing alot of great work recently it's only normal that CoD4 grows.
Which is the nearest tournament, where we can see you? Your goals "there"?
We will attend steelseries esports challenge in copenhagen at the end of april, we're hoping to win it, everything else will be considered as a failure.
Do you still like playing CoD4 or its rather boring?
I really enjoy playing it, especially on LAN. But it's also cause of the teammates i have. When we play we're always having a good time, there's no tension or stress, everything that needs to be fixed gets fixed in a really chilled out way. It's cause KyoChi is an amazing teamleader, always makes the right decissions and always relaxes everybody.
What do you think about Power Gaming and eSuba and theirs gameplays?
I think Power-gaming is a good team, i mean they ended third on cic7 and they're willing to improve so we'll see alot from them on the next couple of lans. eSuba has potential with players like Lucker & Hectic, but we'll see how they do.
Ok, that's all, thank you, your turn!
Thank you for this interview, I would like to say thanks to MSi, SteelSeries, Slappa, Bigfoot networks and off course ugame.
